Dispensing tablet

(Redirected from Dispensing tablets)

Dispensing tablets

Dispensing tablets are molded tablets containing a small dose of a potent medicament along with soluble excipients. These are intended to be added to a given volume of water by the pharmacist or the consumer to produce a solution of a given drug concentration. Materials that are commonly used are mild silver proteinate, dichloride of mercury and quaternary ammonium compound. These tablets are less commonly used. Another difficulty is that some of the components previously used in this dosage form are highly toxic and extremely hazardous and even lethal. Great care must be taken in the packaging under labeling of such tablets to attempt to prevent their oral consumption.
