Dr. T.M.A. Pai founded the Manipal College of Pharmacy in 1963 as part of the Kasturba Medical College. To begin with, the college offered only Diploma in Pharmacy. However, B. Pharm and M. Pharm courses were started without much delay, the former course in 1965 and the latter in 1970.

The Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (refered as COPS)is located at Manipal, Karnataka state, India.
Till date about 1313 Diploma holders, 1406 Graduates, 444 Post-graduates and 37 Ph.D's have passed out from the portals of this institution.

Department of Pharmaceutics
The Department of Pharmaceutics was started in 1970. The department offers courses for the undergraduates and postgraduates besides running a doctoral programme. Research in the Pharmaceutics Department encompasses applied and clinical investigations in Novel Drug Delivery Systems. The department has collaborative projects for the M. Pharm students with reputed pharmaceutical industries. Currently, there are over 20 Postgraduate students on its role and there are four post graduates pursuing Ph.D.

Department of Pharmacology
The Department of Pharmacology at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was separated from the parent department at the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in November 2001. The department shares the laboratory space with the department of Pharmacology at KMC while conducting theory classes at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Quality Assurance
The department was started by Dr. Basu and developed by Dr. P. Gundu Rao, former principal of the College. So far, 127 M.Pharm. and 18 Ph.D. were trained from the department. Research works covering free radical scavenging, antioxidant antitubercular, hepatoprotective, antiurolithiatic and antiallergic activities were published.
Department of Pharmacy Practice
The department started functioning from July 7th 2001 as a separate discipline. The department is under the auspices of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (COPS), Manipal.
Department of Pharmacognosy
The Department of Pharmacognosy was established in the year 1970 with a view to enhance the dissemination of knowledge with regard to medicines exclusively derived from natural sources. Enhancing the demand for the course is the increasing national and global awareness in this specialization in the late 90's. The department boasts of 4 well- equipped spacious laboratories. These include 2 PG laboratories, a medicinal biotechnology laboratory and an undergraduate laboratory with separate instrument and planar chromatography rooms.
Department of Pharmacy Management
Department of Pharmaceutical management of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal is one of the unique divisions in this country. Since the last decade, this is only the department in the country which offers postgraduate programs in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Pharmaceutical Administration.
The department specially offers specialised subjects like Pharmaceutical Marketing, Pharmaceutical Administration, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Intellectual Property Rights, Pharmaceutical Products Development, Marketing Survey and Human Resource Management etc.

Sports facilities include a full size swimming pool and a fully equipped gymnasium.
Cultural Activities
Genesis - the annual trade fair which has various industries participating to make it more comprehensive and industry oriented.
Neev - an event which showcases the creative and writing skills of the students
Parichay - an event to bring the personality of the students to the forefront ,sports and cultural events
MAHE Students Guidance Centre
The centre provides total privacy to students who need guidance and counseling.
